I hear what you're saying. As a Sox fan myself, it would be nice to see a legit bat (and a SS at that) come through the system. Relative minor league pitching? You can never have enough pitching at the major league level so I think the same would be true at the minor league level as well.

Either way the Sox seem to have drafted a very talented and athletically gifted individual. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought he was getting a shot to play SS this season. It is possible he could perform well enough that the Sox brass decide to let him become a hitter. Anything is possible right?

As for Loewen I wish him the best. I loved the Ankiel story, not the collapse of a young promising pitcher, but his journey to become a Major League outfielder. I just don't think Loewen has the background or Ankiel's natural ability to make a successful transition to an everyday or reserve player. It would be really cool if he did though.

I can't disagree with anything you say regarding his delivery, and most of those "in the know" concur. The fact that he's also good enough athletically to play QB at the SEC level helps his case to stay on the mound in terms of repeating his mechanics. However, and this may be shortsighted, but given the Sox relative depth in minor league pitching prospects, I'd prefer to see him at SS (as a Sox fan speaking). Of course, this assumes he can handle the position defensively, and I haven't read anything to the contrary. Speaking of changing positions...Adam Loewen...

My feeling on Kelly, just from watching this video, is that Sox should make him a pitcher. His delivery is nice and smooth. It doesn't seem violent at all. His balance is solid to quite solid and his finish is clean. He's not flying towards first and hopping around after he releases the ball.

Note: This is the first time I've seen Kelly play. Maybe watching more footage of him hit would change my mind but right now he looks like a pitcher to me.
